Lily Collins to Star In Remake of THE EVIL DEAD

Last month, we were happy to report the release date for this cautiously anticipated remake of Sam Raimi’s cult classic, The Evil Dead. Now that we have some spoilery details about the film, big casting news has come down on who will play one of the leading roles in this remake.

According to Bloody-Digusting, Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror, Priest) has been cast as Mia, the twenty-something whom a group of friends takes to a remote cabin for a drug intervention. Collins is in talks to seal the deal. Her role as Mia supposedly will correspond to Bruce Campbell’s role of Ash in the original Evil Dead.

Fede Alvarez is directing the FilmDistrict/Sony Pictures remake with an “unbelievably violent” script by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues with dialogue revisions by Diablo Cody. Original Evil Dead-ers Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert are producing.

Synopsis:

“Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

The Evil Dead begins shooting in New Zealand in March and is set to hit theaters on April 12, 2013.
