Latest Syfy Series in Development is a CLANDESTINE Space Adventure

Excellent, we absolutely do not have enough space in our lives right now, and in particular, not enough space-based series. We are loving all of the fantasy and horror shows that have been happily added to our viewing schedules, but where’s the love for space? We need more space!

Fortunately, Deadline is reporting that Syfy is developing a swashbuckling space drama/adventure entitled Clandestine. The show follows a group who hold themselves out to be part of an intergalactic fleet, when in fact they are mercenaries. So they’re acting in a clandestine manner, see? Sounds kinda like Firefly meets … Leverage, maybe?

The show will be written by Todd Stashwick and Dennis Calero. Stashwick (above, right) is also an actor who has been in nearly as many of Our Kind of shows as Mark Sheppard, from AngelBuffy, and Dark Angel to The Middleman, Heroes, and Supernatural, plus mercenary/spy-type shows like Burn Notice and – hey, Leverage!

Stashwick and comic book artist and illustrator Calero (above, left) of X-Men Noir, Dark Tower and dozens more, met while Stashwick was working on the last season of Heroes and Calero was working on the Heroes comic. Their online comic Devil Inside was optioned by Universal Cable Productions, who is producing Clandestine.

John Shiban, who will be supervising the script and will be executive producer,  also has somes impressive writing credits, including The X-Files, The Lone Gunmen, Star Trek: Enterprise, Supernatural, Legend of the Seeker, and Breaking Bad.

This is exciting! Stay tuned!
