LAIKA’s New Making-Of-PARANORMAN Website Proves That #WEIRDWINS

As was described at Comic-Con 2012 in San Diego, Paranorman, the upcoming stop-motion animation film by LAIKA, is like “the Breakfast Club meets The Fog.” LAIKA has launched a website sharing behind-the-scenes featurettes, insights into the making of, and much more.

Weirdwins.com is described as such:

This site tells the story of the weird and wonderful makers of ParaNorman, and of the weird and wonderful people they made it for (we’re talking about you, weirdo). Show the world what weird is worth. Tag posts, photos, and videos with #weirdwins and zombies will rise.

Check out these featurettes and wonderfully kooky set of posters below:

The first featurette spotlights the amazingly creative people of LAIKA and how geeks get their revenge. The second featurette stars writer/director Chris Butler on how he is Norman. This stuff is really great and you’ll fall in love with these great artists along with ParaNorman! New material will be released each week until the film premieres this August.

So, why the hash tag #WeirdWins? LAIKA wants to know “what inspires you in all your comic book–collecting, lamppost sweater–knitting, cardboard spaceship–building glory. Use #WEIRDWINS to show us where weird is winning, or to join the conversation.” Charlie Sheen, we’re taking over the word “winning.”

Synopsis:

In the comedy thriller, a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman, who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst of all, moronic grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

The film stars the voices of Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, The Road), Casey Affleck (Paradise Lost), Tempestt Bledsoe (The Cosby Show), Jeff Garlin (Wall-E), John Goodman (Monsters, Inc.), Bernard Hill (Lord of the Rings), Anna Kendrick (Twilight), Leslie Mann (Knocked Up), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (How To Train Your Dragon) and Elaine Stritch (30 Rock).

ParaNorman directed by Chris Butler (Corpse Bride, Coraline) and Sam Fell (The Tale of Despereaux, Flushed Away) is slated to hit theaters on August 17th, 2012.
