John Cusack To Play Edgar Allen Poe In McTeigue’s THE RAVEN

John Cusack (2012, The Factory) recently jumped on Twitter and confirmed that he has officially signed onto play Edgar Allan Poe in the upcoming thriller The Raven, which will be directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta). The film will be based on the Poe’s classic poem, and is set in the final five ‘mysterious’ days of the author’s life, when he gets wrapped up in a serial killer investigation.

John Cusack told his Twitter followers –

“officiali-will play Edgar Allan Poe in fall-a-film called The Raven, send any Poe- gold – my way as i begin this journey into the abyss”

Jeremy Renner (Mission: Impossible IV, The Avengers) and Ewan McGregor (The Man Who Killed Don Quixote) had previously been attached to the project, but it’s not clear if they were at one time up for the role of Poe and have been replaced by Cusack or if they are still in McTeigue’s film in other roles.

The Raven is slated to hit theaters in 2011.
