Back in 2007, director George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) was set to helm a Justice League of America feature film for Warner Bros., with plans for the film to become the studio’s superhero tent-pole film of 2009. The project was shelved in 2008 due to a myriad of factors, including Australian tax laws and the writer’s strike.
The LATimes recently did a profile piece on Warner Bros. incoming president, Jeff Robinov, who is succeeding Alan Horn. After talking about Robinov betting on DC Comics characters to take the place of the Harry Potter franchise as the studio’s big-budget tentpole films, the article states:
“Starting in June with the $200-million-plus production “Green Lantern.” He’s then aiming to release new “Batman” and “Superman” films in 2012 and “Justice League,” a teaming of DC’s top heroes, in 2013.”
Justice League of America may (or may not) actually come to theaters in 2013.
