IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Recap of Warehouse 13 (Sn1, Ep2) & Eureka (Sn3, Ep10)

warehouse_13_triciahelferWarehouse 13 “Resonance” (Season 1, Episode 2)

Original airdate: July 14, 2009

Summary:

Pete and Myka investigate a series of bank robberies in Chicago who employ a flasher-type method of sonic mystification.  The artifact in this episode is not a thing per say, but a record that plays piece of music that entrances its listeners by a limbic trigger to the pleasure center of the brain, stimulating a euphoric response.

Points to Know:

  • Cylon Six, Tricia Helfer, guest stars as Bonnie Belski, an FBI agent handling this case.  Her entrance on the show was scored with a Ferris Beuller moment.  A little heavy on the cheese, no?
  • Sam Martino was the agent killed in Denver.   :gasp!:  Myka had an affair with a married man!
  • Artie seems more high-strung than usual.  Then again, someone trying to break into Warehouse 13’s computers is something to really worry about!  The flash he has in the end is troubling to say the least.  Where did Artie get transported in his mind for a moment, whose voice was that, and what did they mean by “It’s not going to stop her?”

Commentary:

  • Pete and Myka seem to have geled as partners, but it seems a little fast for me.  There should be some more awkward moments that could work well for tension between the two and doubling as an injection of comedy as well.
  • The end is really intriguing.  Is this a peek at the season’s big bad?
  • Hm… Chicago?  Special Unit 2 should have been on this case as well!

eureka-jo-in-red-dressEureka “Your Face or Mine?” (Season 3, Episode 10)

Original airdate: July 17, 2009

Summary:

Carter has to take a re-certification test to be officially back on the job as Sheriff.  (Of course, this test is a Eureka-style test!  ‘Push the button’ is more complicated than you might think.)  Meanwhile, Jo is Acting-Sheriff and has to deal with a case of stolen technology that could be used to manipulate DNA and discovers that Julia, a mousey scientist at GD, has stolen her DNA and is walking around as a doppelganger Jo (pictured here).  Julia pulls a total Single White Female on Jo in order to gain the affections of Fargo, whose crush on Jo still stands.

Points to Know:

  • Woah, Not-Jo is hot in that red dress, singing “Making Whoopee” on top of the piano!
  • Fargo finds his match in Julia!  Yay, for Fargo!
  • Biometric DNA monitoring brought up here has real world applications, but what’s your stand on the ethics of using such technology?

Commentary:

  • I find the government’s enforcement on this case lax since Julia tried to take over Jo’s life!  I know this is a playful show, but dang!
  • Also, I am beginning to like Zoe more and more.  She has the best one-liners!
  • Don’t know why I didn’t notice this until now, but Carter’s “Oh, crap,” is quickly becoming like Quantum Leap’s “Oh, boy.”
