Late breaking news has caused much rejoicing amongst the SciFi Mafiosi! Word is that The CW is near a pilot order for Arrow, the story of DC‘s Green Arrow! The report first came at us with a twong late last night that the project is to be executive produced and written by longtime writing partners Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, along with Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

If those names together sound familiar, we told you recently about another project Berlanti and Kreisberg are working on together, Booster Gold for Syfy. Berlanti, Guggenheim and Kreisberg worked together on the wonderful Eli Stone, and Berlanti and Guggenheim worked together on last year’s Green Lantern movie. Kreisberg has actually written several issues of Green Arrow and Black Canary for DC.

Both Booster Gold and Green Arrow made appearances in The CW‘s late Smallville; Justin Hartley, who played Green Arrow, is not attached to this project.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that has likely kept SciFi Mafia’s Editor in Chief bouncing off his walls all night long. We will obviously keep you posted.
