The CW may be bringing a new version of George A. Romero’s 1980s anthology series Tales From the Darkside to its summer 2014 lineup. Joe Hill, author of the Locke & Key comics series and son of Stephen King, is writing the script and is on board as executive producer along with Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and Heather Kadin, Mitch Galin and Jerry Golod for CBS TV Studios, where Kurtzman and Orci’s K/O Paper Products is based.

Deadline reports that the show is expected to follow the 30-minute horror/fantasy/thriller anthology format of the original series, along the lines of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits.

Hill, Orci and Kurtzman also put the very excellent Locke & Key pilot together; here’s hoping the new pilot gets the necessary love from The CW. With The CW giving full season orders to The Tomorrow People and The Originals, and two more of Our Kind of Shows coming to the network midseason, things are looking pretty good.

We’ll keep you posted.
