Back in March, we brought you the news when MGM hired Joel Kinnaman (The Darkest Hour) to play the title role in director José Padilha‘s (Elite Squad, Elite Squad 2) forthcoming remake of Robocop, which was penned by Josh Zetumer (Quantum of Solace).

Now, TheWrap reports that actor Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) has been cast in the film, and will portray the scientist who creates the super-human cyborg known as RoboCop.

RoboCop is slated to hit theaters on August 9th, 2013.
