Just a few days ago, we brought you a brand new featurette focusing on Charlize Theron and her character, Meredith Vicker, from director Ridley Scott‘s hotly anticipated forthcoming sci-fi epic, Prometheus. Now, we have two new featurettes and a new clip from the film starring Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Guy Pearce.

Synopsis:

Last week, we brought you the news when James Badge Dale (World War Z) joined the cast of director Shane Black‘s forthcoming installment of Marvel Studios‘ wildly successful Iron Man franchise as a villain named Eric Savin, a character from Marvel Comics who was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army that stepped on a landmine, and after being dead for 2.3 minutes is resurrected as the cyborg Coldblood.

Now, Variety reports that Ashley Hamilton (Femme Fatales) is currently in talks to portray the villain Firepower in Iron Man 3, the pilot of an experimental pilotable armored suit for Edwin Cord (the rival businessman of Tony Stark), Jack Taggert eventually uses the suit to battle Iron Man. The trade reports that the character of Firepower is a small role in the film.

As we previously reported, the Extremis story arc penned by Warren Ellis is said to be the template for this film. The Extremis nanobots are used by terrorists and later by Stark to enhance his Iron Man suit and give him additional powers and control over the suit. With the additions of Coldblood and Firepower, this is beginning to look like an Extremis/Armor Wars mash-up.

In addition to Hamilton’s possible casting, Iron Man and Iron Man 2 actor/director Jon Favreau has confirmed on Twitter that he will indeed be reprising his role as Happy Hogan in Iron Man 3. Favs posted the picture below from the set of the film.

Iron Man 3 is slated to hit theaters on May 3rd, 2013.

In the last two months, Lionsgate has made significant strides on recouping from Gary Ross’ exit as director. The studio has enlisted director Francis Lawrence (Constantine, I Am Legend) to helm the project and writer Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) to crank out the screenplay for Catching Fire, The Hunger Games sequel.

Hollywood.com reports that this sequel is getting a minor tweak in its title. It will now be titled The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which seems, well, logical and ties back into the first film, the name of the best-selling books by Suzanne Collins, and film franchise.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is slated to hit theaters on November 22nd, 2013.

Warner Bros. Back in March, we brought you the news when MGM hired Joel Kinnaman (The Darkest Hour) to play the title role in director José Padilha‘s (Elite Squad, Elite Squad 2) forthcoming remake of Robocop, which was penned by Josh Zetumer (Quantum of Solace).

Now, TheWrap reports that actor Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) has been cast in the film, and will portray the scientist who creates the super-human cyborg known as RoboCop.

RoboCop is slated to hit theaters on August 9th, 2013.

You may recall that we told you back at the end of February that True Blood showrunner Alan Ball will be stepping down from that position at the conclusion of Season 5, which premieres June 10. According to HBO, Ball will take a “supervisory role” on the show and no longer have daily responsibilities for any subsequent seasons, if there are going to be any future seasons, leaving Ball free to develop new shows for HBO and Cinemax per their agreement.

Truebie fever is raging on, though, and HBO has taken note, as EW is reporting that HBO has lined up Mr. Ball’s Season 6 replacement. He is co-executive producer Mark Hudis, who has been working with Ball in the writers’ room since last year’s Season 4, and whose previous credits include Nurse Jackie and Miss Guided.

Things certainly are looking good for the show when its network announces the name of the showrunner for Season 6 when Season 5 hasn’t even premiered yet. That doesn’t mean, of course, that all of the characters will make it to Season 6…

True Blood Season 5, starring Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, and Alexander Skarsgard, premieres June 10 at 9/8c on HBO.

Last week, we brought you Chris Hemsworth’s thoughts on the sibling rivalry between his character, Thor, and his adopted little brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and how this dynamic continues to evolve into Thor 2. Now, it looks like Loki will be getting some company to antagonize Thor in this sequel.

Variety reports that Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios is negotiating with Mads Mikkelsen (The Hunt, Casino Royale) to star as “one of the villains” in the Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) helmed sequel with script by Don Payne (Thor, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer) and Robert Rodat (Falling Skies, Saving Private Ryan.)

Thor 2 will begin production late this summer and is slated to hit theaters on November 15th, 2013.

Web series fans, zombie fans, post-apocalypse fans, we have something for you all. Hopefully you had a chance to catch the first Exile series, Exile: Shelter From the Storm, when it premiered in 2010. It was a slice of – life? – that followed videographer Charles and his compatriots as they learned about themselves and each other while learning how to survive in the new world.

If you’ve seen it, you have probably been waiting impatiently – hopefully not in a car – for the next arc. Well… It’s here! In fact, the first three issues of the new arc are now ready for you to devour. Entitled Exile: The Family You Choose, it continues to follow Charles and his struggles to survive. In this new arc, Charles travels through a land filled with scavengers both living and undead, seeking redemption for his violent past.

The dynamic duo are as funny as ever. Adam West and Burt Ward delighted Batman fans at this past weekend’s Dallas Comic Con. The dynamic between these two is like they have never missed a beat from being Batman and Robin in the 1960s. At their Q&A panel, West and Ward reminisced about their building climbing days of the “bright knight” as compared to the darker Batman of today and also about a possible Grey Ghost series, getting “Naked,” rescuing dogs, and what it was like to fight Bruce Lee.

A fan asked about West’s voicing the character of The Gray Ghost, Bruce Wayne’s inspiration to become a caped crusader, in Batman: The Animated Series in the 1990s and West announced that a Gray Ghost series is in the works. Though he did not necessarily say that he was attached to said series… we may be able to infer this connection by the mere fact that West mentioned it in the context of paying gigs.

West also was asked about his Adam West Naked DVD. West explained how this DVD came about:

“Listen, the DVD of the Batman television series has not been released as you know. And I guess they are still battling over who gets whatever slice of the pie, so I decided to do my own DVD. I called it Adam West Naked in which I expose ev-ery-thing… that you ever wanted to know about 120 episodes! AdamWest.com [for an autographed copy], you can buy it today.”

Of Burt Ward, a fan asked about the Green Hornet and Kato two-episode crossover with Batman and what it was like to fight Bruce Lee. Ward noted a bit of film trivia that that scene was actually the first fight scene Lee ever filmed:

“Most people don’t know this but at the time I was filming Batman, I lived in a condominium complex that Bruce Lee also lived in. He and I were friends and he and I actually trained together and sparred together. So fighting on Batman [as Kato versus Robin] which actually from a trivia standpoint, was Bruce Lee’s first filmed fight scene was fighting me.

We actually sparred together off camera and he was a great martial artist. I do remember, this was back in 1966 where his wife Linda and I and Bruce and son Brandon who was six months old, we’d go to dinner in Chinatown in Los Angeles. [Bruce] was a great guy and very smart and trained eight hours a day. He was really a terrific martial artist and a nice guy.”

These days, Ward is now known for going from a caped crusader to a canine crusader for his efforts in rescuing dogs with Gentle Giant Rescue:

“My wife and I are very interested in animals because they are very loving and very innocent. Most people have dogs or cats. In fact I think there are 85 million dogs in the United States, 63 million households. It was just something that we decided to rescue and in eighteen years, we rescued about 15,000 dogs. (crowd applauds)

What we’re really thrilled about is that we primarily rescue giant breed dogs, like Great Danes and Saint Bernards and Irish Wolfhounds. They traditionally have very short life spans of about seven to nine years. And my wife and I spent a lot of money and a lot of time and we have actually developed a food called Gentle Giants, because that’s the name of our rescue, that actually doubled the average life span of these dogs. THE SCIENCE CHANNEL! Yes, our latest favorite venue for Firefly has now picked up our favorite current show, Fringe! When Fox gave the green light for 13 final episodes, it was at least partially because those final 13 would take the Fringe total episode count to 100, the magic number required to secure a sale into syndication.

Variety spilled the beans on the pickup, reporting that the deal is not an exclusive one, but will allow for a subscription video on demand company to purchase those rights. The usual suspects are Netflix and Hulu Plus, but word is that video sales giant Amazon is working this one pretty hard in a bid to establish itself in that marketplace.

Science is a great place for Fringe, not only because of how well the names work together – “Fringe” refers to the term “fringe science” after all – but because it has built a loyal sci-fi fan following with its Firefly marathons, as well as the fact that John Noble narrates their creepy science show Dark Matters. Well done, Science, we raise our strawberry milkshakes in salute to you!

Fringe, starring Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson and John Noble, will return for its fifth and final season this fall on Fridays at 9/8c on Fox.

What does My Little Pony have in common with Star Trek? Let me share with you this most interesting moment during Sir Patrick Stewart and John de Lancie’s Q&A panel at Dallas Comic Con this past weekend. John de Lancie spoke about how Gene Roddenberry’s notion for a better future for mankind in Star Trek loosely related to 2011’s My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, where he voiced the antagonist, Discord.

“I ended up doing a cartoon show called My Little Pony. (crowd cheers) Didn’t know anything about it. I looked at the material. It was really good. I went there and knocked off a couple of [lines]. Completely forgot about it. (pauses) And then all of the sudden about four months later, I’m inundated about My Little Pony.

I go, ‘What?’ DISCORD! ‘What?’ and I turned to my wife and asked her what they were talking about. She said, “Well, you did a My Little Pony thing.’ And this was my first step into a world that I have become quite fascinated with.

And the reason why I’ve become quite fascinated with it is this: It’s not My Little Pony, it is Friendship Is Magic and it purports interesting enough, a better future. And I went ‘Oh, very interesting!’ It has a fan base which are the ages of my sons [in their 20s]. And as I’m going further into it, I feel like I’m at the beginning of a really important fan base made up of people who are interested in music, who are interested in art, who are interested in doing good, and being good in a world which seems to, I don’t know about you people but as far as I’m concerned, has sort of gone crazy in terms of how mean people have gotten. So I am delighted.

When I came into Star Trek with Patrick, the Star Trek fan base had already been established. I feel like I’m at the beginning and watching of a new fan base and I want to invite you who are Trek fans to embrace Friendship Is Magic fans because I discovered that we all have a lot in common.”

Consequently, de Lancie has been fascinated by the fan response to his appearance on My Little Pony and particularly by “Bronies” (pronounced Bro-nies) or My Little Pony fans. Along with Michael Brockhoff, director Laurent Malaquais and consulting producer Andrew Brockert, de Lancie has launched a campaign to fund a documentary on Bronies, titled Bronycon: The Documentary, via Kickstarter .com. With a closing date of June 10, 2012, the project has already received pledges exceeding its goal of $60,000.

Director Gary Ross‘ big-screen adaptation of the Suzanne Collins novel, The Hunger Games scored a staggering $152 million in North America alone on its opening weekend in theaters, and is likely to set the home video market on fire with its forthcoming Blu-ray and DVD release as well.

SANTA MONICA, CA, May 23, 2012 –Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games juggernaut will arrive on home entertainment at 12:01 A.M. on Saturday, August 18, as the first film in Lionsgate’s (NYSE: LGF) The Hunger Games franchise, which has already grossed nearly $400 million at the North American box office and is approaching $650 million at the worldwide box office, debuts on 2-disc DVD (plus digital copy), 2-disc Blu-Ray (plus digital copy), VOD and digital download with three hours of previously unavailable bonus materials in the biggest home entertainment launch in Lionsgate’s history, the Company announced today.

The film, based on the New York Times best-selling novel from writer Suzanne Collins, achieved a remarkable four-week run as the #1 film at the North American theatrical box office where it has already grossed $392 million, ranking as the 14th highest-grossing film of all time, and it is approaching $650 million at the worldwide box office with an early June opening slated in China.

The 2-disc Blu-ray and 2-disc DVD arrive loaded with over three hours of extensive bonus materials including the comprehensive eight-part documentary, “The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games.” Other special features include a sit-down conversation with director Gary Ross as well as numerous featurettes that examine the global success of the books, the creation of the control room in the film and the filmmakers’ motivation behind creating new scenes that were not in the book plus much more. The Blu-ray Disc set contains an additional exclusive feature, “Preparing for the Games: A Director’s Process,” which looks at the progression of taking three key scenes from the book to the screen. The Hunger Games Blu-ray Disc and DVD is a must-have film that is hailed as “exciting and thought-provoking in a way few adventure dramas ever are” (New York Daily News). Fans will be able to pre-order the Blu-ray Disc and DVD, starting on Friday, May 25th, for $39.99 and $30.98, respectively.

Last month, we brought you the news when Warner Bros. Pictures hired Brad Petyon (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island), to re-write and helm the big-screen adaptation of the DC Comics series Lobo, being produced by Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman.

Thanks to BleedingCool, we may now have some idea about who will be portraying the film version of “He-Who-Devours-Your-Entrails-And-Thoroughly-Enjoys-It”. An untested source tells the site that Dwayne Johnson told some guests at “a Hollywood party” that he was taking the role of Lobo.

Writer-director Brad Peyton last directed Johnson in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. In addition to Johnson’s previous relationship with the writer-director of Lobo, the actor added some of his own fuel to the casting by stating the following on Twitter:

Lobo was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and debuted in issue #3 of Omega Men back in 1983. The character was originally an interstellar alien mercenary and bounty hunter, and made a comeback in the 90s as an anti-hero biker.

No production or release dates have been announced for Lobo.

One of the summer’s most anticipated blockbusters will not be released this year at all. Paramount Pictures’ G.I. Joe sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, starring Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis and more, is being pushed back in order to make it into a 3D movie in post-production.

According to Deadline, Paramount is pushing the release date of G.I. Joe: Retaliation to March 29, 2013. What is the reason for the sudden push a month from the original release date? The studio hopes to rake in a bigger foreign box office by making this a 3D film. The studio had already begun kicking the promotion the film into high gear with the original June 29^th release date closing in, including buying Super Bowl commercial time. Paramount will undoubtedly have to reassess its advertising strategy due to this move.

Synopsis:

A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION directed by Jon M. Chu and starring D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson is slated to hit theaters on March 29th, 2013.

It will be a sad night tonight, as we bid a fond farewell to the latest casualty in the Death to Intelligent Shows War, the smart and mysterious Awake. Tonight’s season finale, and therefore the series finale, will reportedly give us some feeling of resolution. But wait til you see this TV spot:

Awake, starring Jason Isaacs, Laura Allen, Dylan Minnette, Laura Innes, BD Wong, and Cherry Jones, airs its series finale tonight at 10/9c on NBC.

The clear and enunciated voice of Sir Patrick Stewart is unmistakable. Stewart’s dignified onscreen presence owes significant credit to the signature sound of his voice. “You have the bridge, Number One,” as he’d say as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on the starship Enterprise in television’s Star Trek: The Next Generation. But did you know how far Stewart had to come from his native dialect from his native West Riding in Yorkshire?

At this past weekend’s Dallas Comic Con, Stewart regaled the eager audience at his Q&A session on Saturday afternoon with a taste of his original regional accent. This native accent is not just a tint on the English language, but an entire dialect unto its own. Take a listen for yourself below:

Stewart spent a number of years working on learning to speak in RP or received pronunciation style of English. This is how your ears recognize Sir Patrick Stewart now in his illustrious 53 years of professional acting.

And you can hear him again soon as he alluded to an exciting new project for theater coming in about 15-16 months time in the late summer or autumn of next year in New York. Stewart expects to make an announcement about this “big and exciting” new show soon.

Meanwhile, Stewart did say that the Blu-Ray version of the Star Trek: The Next Generation series is in the works and that he has just been sent a 10-15 minute blooper reel that “looks sensational” and “as if it were filmed last week.” For him, the funniest thing is “still the turbo lift doors that don’t open.”
