Farscape 10th Anniversary at Comic-Con & Debut of MegaSet DVD

farscape-johnaerynIn celebration of the 10th anniversary of Farscape, Comic Con will host a special panel with actors Ben Browder and Claudia Black, creator Rockne O’Bannon, and executive producer/director Brian Henson.

Mark your San Diego Comic Con calendars:

Farscape panel scheduled for Friday, July 24 at 10:15 a.m. in Room 6BCEF.

Also be on the lookout for another Farscape-related panel regarding the series of comic books that picks up where the TV series ended.  The BOOM! Studios Farscape Comics Panel will feature writer, Keith DeCandido and creator, Rockne O’Bannon.  The Farscape Comics is in its second miniseries, “Strange Detractors”. #4 was just released at the beginning of this month.  A third miniseries is on its way and DeCandido has a 4 issue miniseries called “D’Argo’s Lament” on his own.

Farscape aired from 1999-2003 on the Scifi Channel and was one of my fave shows at the time.  Like every other fan, I was crushed when the series was canceled, but it lives on in comic book format and there is still the promise of webisodes by the Syfy channel, though no news to report on that yet.

In November, A&E Home Entertainment and the Jim Henson Company partner on releasing the first ever Complete Series Megaset of all four seasons, plus extras like commentaries, cast interviews, and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

For those of you not familiar with the show, this recap is courtesy of the DVD press release:

When a freak accident during an experimental space mission catapulted Astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) across a thousand galaxies to an alien battlefield, a cult classic was born with the epic, adventure-filled TV series Farscape.  The award-winning fan favorite show, which ran from 1999-2003 on Sci Fi and was named by TV Guide as one of television’s best cult shows ever, is about to blast off again on DVD courtesy of a pact between A&E Home Entertainment and The Jim Henson Company.

For you Farscape fans, here’s a little something to tide you over till the Megaset release:
