Edward James Olmos Talks GREEN HORNET

edward-james-olmosI’d honestly follow William Adama (of Battlestar Galactica) anywhere so hearing that he’s on the “Green Hornet” cast makes me even that much more excited about the film.

Green Hornet” is a Michel Gondry (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”) directed film starring Seth Rogen (“Pineapple Express”) as the title role aka Britt Reid, and Taiwanese actor, Jay Chou (“Curse of the Golden Flower”) filling Bruce Lee-made famous role of Kato.  Edward James Olmos plays a character who works with James Reid, the publisher of The Sentinel and father of Britt Reid.

“We’re the backbone of the paper. Things go awry, and I end up having to try to sustain what’s going on in our lives. And of course the Green Hornet doesn’t make it any easier. I don’t want to give anything away.”

Olmos was a fan of the original 1960s TV serial:

“It was really kind of campy. I liked it. The Green Hornet was a very different kind of a hero — this character who becomes kind of a bad guy in order to get the bad guy. It was fun to watch that dynamic.”

In regards to this reboot version, Olmos says:

“I think it’s going to be very exciting. People will find that it’s different than what they expect. Seth is doing a wonderful job. There’s a lot of everything. It’s going to be action-filled, and there’s a lot of humor in the situations. It’s really a well-crafted piece of work. Hopefully people will enjoy it and we’ll have a few of these films.”

No mention in this interview with Olmos about details on the villain of the piece- Christoph Waltz (also the villain of “Inglourious Basterds”) is now the Green Hornet’s antagonist in lieu of Nicolas Cage.

Green Hornet” is set to released December 17, 2010.
