At the end of last month, we brought you casting news of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit actor Christopher Meloni landing a “major role” in Warner Bros. Pictures’ Superman reboot, Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder. This new casting news only slightly less nebulous in terms of what role has just been cast.

Hollywood Reporter reports that Harry Lennix, who played Boyd Langdon, Echo’s handler in Joss Whedon’s series Dollhouse on Fox, has joined the cast as a “high-ranking military officer named Sargent Stanwick.”Nothing more is known about the role at this time.

Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
