David Duchovny Says That The X-Files 3 Is Currently Being Written

Way back in October of last year, David Duchovny, who played FBI agent and conspiracy believer Fox Mulder in The X-Files said that he wanted to do another X-Files movie and wants it to “return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy.”

TVMag recently interviewed Duchovny and the actor claims that a script for The X-Files 3 is currently being written.

“It is in the process of being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, who are a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film.  The error comes, in my opinion, from the authors straying too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc.”

So, there ya have it…if they can convince 20th Century Fox to greenlight it, and they can convince Gillian Anderson to reprise her role as agent Dana Scully, The X-Files 3 may or may not happen at some point before, during or after 2012!
