Back in January, we told you that Brad Pitt and Paramount Pictures’ film adaptation of Max Brook’s novel, World War Z, has trilogy and thus franchise potential. Since then, there have been problems with this production. The film is due for a series of reshoots over a period of several weeks causing  Paramount to push back the premiere date from this upcoming holiday season to the summer blockbuster season in 2013.

According to THR, Paramount has brought in Damon Lindelof (Prometheus, Lost) to save the film. Lindelof will be re-working on the third act of World War Z with reshoots to begin this fall.

World War Z stars Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane, a worker at the United Nations Post-War Commission, who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. The film also stars Mireille Enos (The Killing) as Pitt’s character’s wife, Daniella Kertesz in her feature film debut, James Badge Dale (The Departed) and Matthew Fox (Lost). World War Z is directed by Marc Forster with script was written by Matthew Michael Carnahan (State of Play).

World War Z is slated to hit theaters on June 21, 2013.
