Damon Lindelof Says Star Trek Sequel Is Inspired By The Dark Knight

Producer Damon Lindelof (Lost, Cowboys & Aliens) says that director J.J. Abrams‘ (Super 8) as yet Untitled Star Trek Sequel is being inspired by Christopher Nolan‘s (Inception) follow-up to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight. Lindelof, alongside Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Fringe) are currently penning the sequel for Paramount Pictures‘ hit 2009 film.

Lindelof told E!,

“It was really about something, and at the same time it was a superhero movie. We don’t want to abandon all the things that made the first movie work… but we also really want the movie to thematically resonate.”

“We’re looking at a movie like The Dark Knight, which went one step beyond Batman Begins”

The Untitled Star Trek Sequel is slated to hit theaters on June 29th, 2012.
