Comic-Con 2013: Watch Loki Take Over Hall H

As if the full cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past wasn’t enough for the hoarse-from-squeeing fans who packed Comic-Con‘s epic Hall H last Saturday. Come on, what could keep that kind of energy going? What could even come close? Fortunately, Marvel decided to put their trust in Loki.

You’ll see panel moderator Chris Hardwick talking onstage with Kevin Feige, Marvel movie chief, when suddenly his mike is cut and the room goes dark. Watch what ensues:

Featurette: Thor: The Dark World – Loki at Comic-Con

Loki then ordered the new Thor: The Dark World trailer to play, and magically, it did. It was terrific, but I think it’s safe to say that it was Loki who has been most indelibly etched into our brains. Well played, Loki.

Tom Hiddleston talked with Hero Complex the next morning about his secret Loki Comic-Con mission, and in a way I love this just as much as his takeover of Hall H. Because to keep it secret, he flew from London to San Diego in… a Jango Fett costume. Well, he was going to Comic-Con…

A costume was required to keep his surprise attendance a secret, given what phone cameras and Instagram can do nowadays. Why Jango Fett?  “I’m 6 foot 2. It was the only one that fit in the costume shop. They were sold out of Stormtroopers.” And why a Star Wars costume? Maybe sending a message to J.J. Abrams about interest in an upcoming movie? “I was just like, no Marvel. If I come as Iron Man, it’s too obvious. But if J.J. wants to read it as a subtle message, I’m fine with that.”

So are we.

Thor: The Dark World starring Chris HemsworthNatalie PortmanTom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopinks is slated to hit theaters November 8th 2013.
