Christopher Nolan (Inception) and Emma Thomas are heading towards production on their Superman reboot for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Nolan has reportedly begun seeking a director to helm the resurrection of the Man of Steel.

Deadline reports that the top of Nolan’s short list includes directors Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Sucker Punch), Matt Reeves (Let Me In), Tony Scott (Unstoppable) and Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles).

Christopher Nolan is said to be meeting with all of the directors and will likely make an announcement sometime in the next few weeks.

Superman: Man of Steel is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
