Before the show has even made its premiere, AMC has already ordered up another season of its zombie apocalypse series The Walking Dead. Granted the first season only has six episodes, but viewers can now look forward to thirteen additional episodes in the show’s second season.

The Walking Dead, AMC’s live-action adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel series of the same name, stars Andrew Lincoln (Heartbreaker) as Rick Grimes, “a police officer who’s shot in the line of duty and wakes up in the hospital to find the world has fallen victim to a zombie plague. He goes in search of his wife and child.”

The first season of the show is set in Atlanta in the summer time. Speculation is that the second season will follow the source material and see the characters through the winter. Producer Frank Darabont (The Mist, The Illustrated Man) commented on the graphic novels:

“There’s some really cool stuff that Kirkman did, where they find the one zombie that’s frozen to the ground. I’d never seen that before, and that’s really cool.”

Ah, poor Sheldon. Or maybe not poor Sheldon because this idea that the producers have for bringing back the Evil Wil Wheaton to The Big Bang Theory sounds hilarious! Show producer Bill Prady is looking to bring fire to the rivalry between Dr. Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) and Sheldon’s nemesis, Wil Wheaton, in an upcoming episode in slated for sometime in November.

Prady lays out the premise for this scenario:

“We started talking about the idea of minor celebrities cutting in line and we thought it might be funny to have our [Big Bang] guys waiting in line for a one-time-only midnight screening of something like Raiders of the Lost Ark with restored footage, and Wil Wheaton and his three friends cut the line. When it comes time for our guys to get in, the line stops; Wil took the last four seats and Sheldon is just furious. Because it doesn’t make sense to him. Wil’s celebrity is not applicable here. This is not Star Trek. It’s just wrong.”

Hey, anytime Wil Wheaton (The Guild, Eureka) gets to be evil on screen is a good television!

Walt Disney Pictures have released a new International poster for Tron: Legacy, directed by Joseph Kosinski and starring Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Bruce Boxleitner and Michael Sheen. TRON: Legacy hits theaters on December 17th.

We told you last month that director Tony Scott (Unstoppable) will be helming the big-screen adaptation of the Mark Millar (Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall) and Steven McNiven comic, NEMESIS. The Marvel Icon graphic novel was acquired by 20th Century Fox, and will be produced by Tony and Ridley Scott‘s (Life in a Day) Scott Free Productions.

Now, Bleeding Cool reports that director Tony Scott (Emma’s War) has his sights set on Johnny Depp (The Tourist) and Brad Pitt (The Tree of Life) to be cast in the starring roles.

Creator Mark Millar spoke with BBC Radio and said,

“Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott… I just got a call from him, literally about a month ago… it was one of those very surreal things. This is a $150 million budget… he said ‘Who do you fancy for it?’… I said ‘I dunno, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp’ so he said ‘That’s good, we’ll give them a call.’”

The graphic novel follows billionaire genius Matt Anderson, looking to exact revenge on those who killed his parents. Anderson is a villain who travels the globe killing off high-ranking police officials. The story follows Matt to Washington D.C., where he plots a campaign of terror against Blake Marrow, the police chief who captured, tortured, and killed his parents.

Nemesis is slated to hit theaters in 2013.

Rocksteady Studios brought home the BAFTA Game of the Year award for Batman: Arkham Asylum back in March, and the game was such a huge hit that Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) acquired a majority stake in Rocksteady and the game went on to win the Guinness World Record for the ‘Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever’.

Just last month, Warner Bros. announced that the forthcoming sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum would officially be titled Batman: Arkham City, and would hit store shelves next fall for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. According to the folks at Rocksteady, the game “builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security ‘home’ for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.”

Now, Joystiq has stumbled upon what are reportedly 20 new screenshots from Batman: Arkham City. I say reportedly because Joystiq stated that the images were posted on an anonymous Flickr account and do not come from an official source. As they stated, they posted them anyway because they look pretty legitimate and could very well be an intentional leak from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Batman: Arkham City is set inside the now “heavily fortified” walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, and the game features a brand-new story that “draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe.” Part of that “all-star” cast includes Cat Woman, Mr. Freeze and Two-Face.

Back in July we told you that Pop/R&B artist/model Rihanna had signed on to join Taylor Kitsch (John Carter of Mars), Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood), Brooklyn Decker (Chuck) and Hamish Linklater (The Future) in the Peter Berg directed film, Battleship.

Just last month we told you that Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Avengers) had joined the cast of the Brad Bird (The Incredibles) directed fourth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Renner will co-star alongside Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible IV.

Now, Deadline reports that Paula Patton (Swing Vote, Just Wright) has joined the cast, and will play a young operative who teams up with Tom Cruise‘s Ethan Hunt. Patton reportedly beat out Lauren German (The Divide) and Kristen Kreuk (Smallville, Chuck) for the role.

In other Mission: Impossible news…

We had previously reported the rumor that “the film may not be called Mission: Impossible IV. It’s possible that the title won’t even include the familiar moniker, much as Christopher Nolan‘s Batman sequel was simply titled The Dark Knight.” Deadline now states that Tom Cruise and producer J.J. Abrams have decided to remove the IV from the title, to ensure that audiences clearly recognize that the film is a reboot, which both parties intended when they first sat down to collaborate on the script.

Mission: Impossible IV Mission: Impossible is slated to hit theaters on December 16th, 2011.

Ronald D. Moore (I, Robot 2, Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome) is creating a wizarding world for NBC Universal. The fantasy show is described as “an adult Harry Potter set in a world ruled not by science but by magic.” The project was developed as part of a two-year deal with Sony TV.

Do you think Moore can pull off an “adult Harry Potter” world in the same way that he energized the Battlestar Galactica franchise for SyFy? In a television entertainment landscape filled with vampires, zombies, and witches, why not add variety with some wizarding magic?

I am cautiously optimistic about this one. His fledgling show last year, Virtuality, turned out to be just a two-hour pilot movie for Fox. It was promising and I wanted to see more but, no… there was no more! We’ll keep a close eye on this and let you know what happens.

We got our first peek at Linda Hamilton (Refuge) as Chuck’s (Zachary Levi) mom in the preview for NBC’s Chuck, but now, we have a real good look at her… and she’s gun happy! The mystery of Mary Elizabeth Bartowski aka Chuck’s mom will be central to this upcoming season of the show and these pics make it even more interesting as Sarah Connor 1.0 appears to be confident using a gun and likely involved in something bigger and unexpected.

CONAN is based on the Robert E. Howard books and written by Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, Sean Hood and Andrew Lobel. The film stars Jason Momoa, Rose McGowan, Rachel Nichols, Stephen Lang, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Ron Perlman and Said Taghmaoui and is slated for release in 2011.

First: These pictures have made me a bit more optimistic about this reboot, not simply because there are bare breasts (not that I’m complaining) but more due to the fact that this may be a sign that they are heading in the solid R rating direction for the film, which may also mean that an appropriate level of barbaric violence and bloodshed will be present in the film as well.

Second: I’m not fond of censoring images but, we do consider ourselves a PG-13 site and I prefer protecting the people who didn’t notice the nsfw tag in the title from scrolling down the page at work, and giving their boss a chance to catch them staring at breasts ;) I’m cool like that!
