Bryan Singer’s BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Scores Band of Brothers Writer

Just yesterday, we brought you the news about director Bryan Singer (X-Men) going straight into development on his long-gestating big screen version of Battlestar Galactica for Universal Pictures, once he completes production on his latest project, Jack the Giant Killer.

Now, Deadline reports that John Orloff (Band of Brothers, Anonymous) is now finalizing a deal with Universal to pen the feature film adaptation of BSG. This movie will reportedly be a theatrical take on the original Battlestar Galactica TV series from 1978, instead of the more recent Syfy series of the same name.

Orloff himself had this to say about writing the script:

“I have wanted to write this movie since I was 12 years old, and built a Galactica model from scratch out of balsa wood, cardboard, old model parts and LEDs. I love BSG, and I would pass on the job rather than frak it up.”

Battlestar Galactica is currently in pre-production with no official release date.
