The television adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s graphic novel Powers by FX has commenced casting with the announcement that Charles S. Dutton (Dark Blue, Legion) is the first member of the cast. Dutton will play Captain Cross in the police procedural in a world where superpowers are commonplace.

The Powers pilot is written by Charles H. Eglee (formerly Frank Darabont’s right hand man on AMC’s The Walking Dead) and will be directed by Michael Dinner. The show follows two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim. As SciFi Mafia reported to you in March, BSG’s Katee Sackhoff has her sights on the role of Deena Pilgrim. FX and Sony Pictures TV is aiming for a January premiere.
