Another Game of Thrones Star Joins THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 2

Gwendoline Christie wide

We’ve been reporting on Game of Thrones’s Natalie Dormer‘s casting (and hair!) in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 for Lionsgate, and now she’ll be joined by a fellow Game of Thrones cast mate Gwendoline Christie, who is barely recognizable above, all cleaned up.

You probably know Gwendoline Christie more dirt- and armor-covered in her role as the towering Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones, while her role as Commander Lyme, leader of the District 2 rebellion, is described as tall and muscular. I’m looking forward to seeing how director Francis Lawrence chooses to make her character different from the character she already plays on Game of Thrones. And while she totally rocks the dirty warrior role she’s in, I’d love to see her look changed up for this movie.

She’ll be hailing from District 2 where weapons are manufactured and where most Peacekeepers are trained. Given a higher standard of living because of its loyalty to the capitol, she could potentially be a little more slick in her look. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Gwendoline Christie is replacing Lilly Rabe (American Horror Story: Coven) who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, this according to Deadline.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Natalie Dormer is slated to hit theaters on November 21, 2014, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Natalie Dormer and Gwendoline Christie is slated to hit theaters on November 20, 2015.
