ABC Says YES to a SHIELD Pilot Written by Joss Whedon

ABC is threatening to become our instant Favorite Network Ever with news that it has ordered a live-action  S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot to be written by Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly) and his brother and sister-in-law, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.

Deadline announced the news, reporting that production will begin immediately. The Whedons and Tancharoen will executive produce along with Jeffrey Bell and Marvel Television’s Jeph Loeb. Joss Whedon will direct if his schedule permits.

We told you earlier this month that a deal had been struck that has Whedon in an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. He’ll be writing and directing The Avengers sequel, and helping to develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC.

But S.H.I.E.L.D.?! Immediately we’re wondering who will play Nick Fury, and whether we’ll be seeing Agent Coulson. And The Hulk. And Iron Man. And Cap. What a great thing to be wondering about for a TV series!

Can. Not. Wait.
