Behold the First Teaser and Pics for Del Toro and Cuse’s THE STRAIN

The Strain logo summer wide

This may be the most highly anticipated new series of the year, not just of the summer. A TV series from writer/director/producer Guillermo del Toro (Pacific RimPan’s Labyrinth)! Carlton Cuse (LostBates Motel) as the showrunner! PURE GEEK GOLD. I can barely wait to see what they have in store for us, when The Strain premieres this summer on FX.

Today is a good day for us, as it marks the official beginning of the video marketing of the series to We, the People, with the release of the first teaser. Like all good teasers, it likely doesn’t show any actual footage from the show. But it is longer than a lot of other series teasers; none of that 10-second stuff for The Strain, but a full 30-second TV spot! And yes, it does make me want to see the show EVEN MORE:

SQUEE! We even get our first mystery: Who is “He”?!

Here are the first, mysterious screenshots:

Biohazard suits are getting to be all the rage, have you noticed? I’m looking forward to seeing lots of little scientists at my door next Halloween.

And here’s a reminder of the synopsis:

The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of “Dr. Ephraim Goodweather” (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

As if we needed another reason to wish that winter would hurry up and finish. Come on, summer!
