Yes, admittedly it isn’t necessarily an obvious pairing, Face Off and Robot Combat League. Let’s look at what they have in common. Both on Syfy, Tuesday nights, one after the other, and both are competition shows. Face Off is one of Syfy‘s highest rated shows, and RCL is just getting started.
If you’re a fan of one, though, I recommend you give the other a try. Face Off showcases the creation of some excellent special effects makeup. It’s a competition show with competitors that try to do their best work, as opposed to strategizing against the other contestants. Robot Combat League, on the other hand, is… well it’s fun. Come on, it’s fighting eight-feet-tall robots! And if you saw last week’s series premiere, you’ll want to know that it looks like the rest of the episodes will feature two battles per episode, not just one, so it should move along nicely.
Check out each in the videos below. For Face Off, we have a TV spot that gives a glimpse into this week’s challenge, and a clip featuring some gorgeous monster face sculpting, and trouble for one of the contestants whose record has been all over the place. For Robot Combat League we have a great featurette with host Chris Jericho explaining the rules, and a TV spot for tonight’s new episode.
Face Off, hosted by McKenzie Westmore, airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Syfy.
Robot Combat League, hosted by Chris Jericho, airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on Syfy.
