Walt Disney Pictures is doing magical things these days, there is no doubt. Hiring J.J. Abrams to direct the first of the movies since the purchase of the Lucasfilms‘ Star Wars brand is genius. And just when the dust was starting to settle around the next three Star Wars films, Disney starts to stir up our hopes and dreams again with a new announcement.
Yesterday, Disney by way of Bob Iger, confirmed live on CNBC that they would, in fact, be doing a few stand-alone films outside of Episode VII, VIII and IX. And that is it. There is nothing else confirmed outside of that. Now there are tons of rumors for back stories for young versions of Yoda, Boba Fett, and Han Solo and all of those are just rumors.
In fact, Deadline reports that the reason that you’re hearing all of these different rumors is because things are in the brainstorming stages and the ideas are different every day. We here at SciFi Mafia want you to know that we’re on top of this and when the official word is out we’ll make sure and get it to you. Until then dream big, and dream it out loud on the internet because you never know who is listening and maybe we will get one of these really good movie ideas sooner than later.
