We have, I am sorry to report, quite a while to wait for the next iteration of the amazing American Horror Story. We don’t even know what the subtitle will be yet. American Horror Story: Schoolhouse? Museum? Barn? It’s hard to imagine how they will blend the different structure/building that is always the focus, with the “mixture of several cities” aspect that showrunner Ryan Murphy told us about. Hotel? Airport? Cruise Ship?

Murphy told us last year that there was a clue about Season 2 in the second-to-last episode of Season 1 but it was totally vague. Nevertheless, he said it again this year about the second-to-last episode of Season 2:

AND the finale:

Those of you who are good at this, knock yourselves out, and let us know if you come up with anything.

The good and confirmed news is that even more of the American Horror Story Players, as I call them, are returning. We told you about Jessica Lange (Season 1’s Constance, Season 2’s Sister Jude), Evan Peters (Season 1’s troubled teen Tate, Season 2’s Kit Walker), and Sarah Paulson (Season 1’s medium, Season 2’s Lana Winters) returning, and later that Lily Rabe (Season 1’s original owner Laura Montgomery, Season 2’s possessed Sister Mary Eunice) had been confirmed.

Now here’s the latest great casting news:

AHS Frances Conroy smallFrances Conroy played Season 1’s older version of housekeeper Moira and Season 2’s angel of death, clearly written as an homage to Jessica Lange‘s Angelique in 1979’s All That Jazz.

AHS Taissa Farmiga smallAlso confirmed for Season 3 by TV Guide is the very talented Taissa Farmiga, who played teen daughter Violet in Season 1. Murphy told EW recently that although they had not yet finalized the deal, he very much wanted Farmiga for Season 3:

I missed her this season. There wasn’t really a role for her. I feel very protective of her and I didn’t want her to go back into the loony bin—it was too dark. So I thought well ‘I want Taissa to be one of the leads next year.’ I called her up and pitched her the character for the season and she loved it and she said, ‘Yes let’s do it.’

Now that she is confirmed, we’re just waiting on, and hoping so hard for, word of Dylan McDermott‘s return, and the return of Season 1’s Burning Man, Denis O’Hare

American Horror Story Season 3, starring Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, and Taissa Farmiga, is expected to premiere this fall on FX.
