Last week’s episode of American Horror Story Asylum, “The Name Game”, included what is likely my favorite scene from either American Horror Story or American Horror Story Asylum, which are two of my favorite shows ever. I’m talking, of course, about the source of the title of the episode.
I am no fan of TV series ever doing musical episodes – yes, including my beloved Fringe, though I don’t really mind “Brown Betty” – but this scene kills. Jessica Lange totally nails it, so does the rest of the cast, the choreography, the direction, it All. Just. Kills.
Unfortunately, FX has notified us that it will likely remove access TOMORROW to this beloved clip, along with the episode recap and TV spot, apparently for licensing reasons. Watch it while you can, and get in that pre-order for the Blu-ray or DVD of Asylum, if you haven’t already. We’ve even provided a link for that, below, just in case.
American Horror Story: Asylum, starring Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Chloë Sevigny, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Adam Levine, Lizzie Brocheré, Britne Oldford, Mark Consuelos, Clea DuVall, Jenna Dewan, and Dylan McDermott, airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on FX.
Step inside a madhouse of horror and experience the chilling new incarnation of TV's most daringly provocative series. The sins of the past haunt the present at the notorious Briarcliff home for the criminally insane, ruled with an iron fist by Sister Jude. Forbidden desire and terrifying evil lurk around every corner...from alien abduction to demonic possession to a skin-wearing psychopath known as Bloody Face. Emmyr winner JESSICA LANGE leads an exceptional ensemble cast, including ZACHARY QUINTO, JAMES CROMWELL and SARAH PAULSON. 'It's genuinely, unrelentingly horrific and creepy' (Time Magazine) and a 'totally addictive' (The Washington Post) show.
