Rumor Has It! Universal Remaking JAWS In 3D With Tracy Morgan?

Universal Pictures is planning a 3D remake of Jaws. Cinemablend claims to have received the tip from a source inside the studio. According to the insider, the success of James Cameron’s Avatar has prompted Universal Pictures to move forward with a 3D remake of Steven Spielberg’s classic film from 1975.

The source also reported that Tracy Morgan (co-star of NBC’s 30 Rock) was at one time the top contender to portray Matt Hopper in the remake. Richard Dreyfuss played Hopper in the original.

There has been no official confirmation of this rumor.

I’ve always thought they needed more good killer shark movies. Jaws 1 &2 were awesome. Jaws 3 had its moments. Jaws 4 was a joke. Deep Blue Sea came along before CGI had reached a maturity point where the sharks looked real enough to be scary. Its time.
