While we’re all still waiting impatiently for Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland to hit theaters, apparently Burton has his sights set on yet another Disney Fairy Tale already. Tim Burton is being rumored to direct MALEFICENT, a remake of Sleeping Beauty for Disney. Maleficent is the villain that Disney created for Sleeping Beauty and went on to become the main villain in the “Kingdom Hearts” video games. The film will reportedly be the Sleeping Beauty story through Maleficent’s eyes.

I’m not sure about this one. While I appreciate Burton’s singular vision, I don’t think I am ready to see his tilted version of one of my most beloved Disney classics. The sets and costuming are sure to be fantastic.
I’m just wondering if it’s really necessary for Burton to re-imagine every Disney (or related) property and is that his new M.O.? I prefer when Burton goes off the chain and does his own original material. I’d much rather see the new Frankenweenie feature made before he ventures into this.
