They can't get a whole lot of anything Spidey (movies anyway) because Sony/Columbia has those rights for quite a long time... Disney only owns the television rights for Spidey which Sony released to them after the acquisition.

While I can sympathize with your position on the topic, I really don't think Disney's going to ruin a cash cow like Marvel and specifically Marvel Studios... Favreau did way too good of a job on IM to pass up the sequel, plus - Branagh directing Thor.. you're really going to pass that up?

Besides, it seems as though all of the creators/artists under the Marvel banner (past and present) are happy with it, so that makes me cautiously optimistic because they are the ones that matter.

Well, Disney bought Marvel primarily to get a piece of the Spider-Man gravy train, so yeah, as much as it pains me, I'll pass on the 'Iron Man 2.' Marvel has two years to go before all the major contracts expire (ironically in 2012), then we'll know if the axe will fall. Unless something else happens, I'm just buying the comics. Besides, the comics division really doesn't get that much from the movies anyway (beyond the licensing fees).

So, does that mean you won't be going to see Iron Man 2, Thor, Capt. America or The Avengers?? Because with Disney owning Marvel now, all of those movies are under their thumb just as much as John Carter will be (which isn't much).

While 'John Carter' seems to be in the hands of some competent people, the reason I'm anti-Disney is because with their recent acquisition of Marvel Entertainment, Disney is now in a position to destroy the comic book industry. And with their slash and burn corporate tactics, they may very well do that. So unless Disney proves me wrong I will boycott any and every Disney product and I will loathe/hate them with every fiber in my being.

DuJuan, I feel that way about most anything that The Asylum produces and actually all things considered - I'm curious to see just how bad Traci Lords is. I wouldn't write off John Carter so fast though, with Pixar involved and it being a live action/CG hybrid, it could end up being pretty cool.

'Princess of Mars' sounded interesting until you said Traci Lords. Since she's in it, I'm going to avoid that movie like the plague. And now that I know Disney is producing the other 'John Carter' movie, I'll avoid that one too.
