We told you about Natalie Portman leaking the news that her friend Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) would be joining her in the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s THOR. Much like every site on the intertubes, I gave my two cents (and, as it turns out.. we all thought along the same lines).
Now we have both official confirmation that she has joined the cast, as well as official confirmation that all of us (as far as I can see) were dead wrong with our guesses about her role. Oh well, you roll the dice… you takes your chances!
Variety is confirming that the actress who has made a name for herself in films such as THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, NICK & NORAH’S INFINITE PLAYLIST, and CHARLIE BARTLETT, is in fact a part of the impressive lineup for THOR, which includes Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Stellan Skarsgard, Stuart Townsend (Fandral), Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), Todd Hiddleston (Loki), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor).
Kat Dennings will play Darcy, who works with Natalie Portman’s character, Jane Foster. Given the history of “Thor” in Marvel Comics, I think it’s safe to assume that both Darcy and Jane will be employed in the medical profession.
