We gave you the scoop on the rumor about Black Cat being the villain in Spider-Man 4 and that both Rachel McAdams and Romola Garai having auditioned for the role, just two days ago.
Now, according to HeyUGuys and their “secret source”, they may be just two of of many actresses up for the part and he studio is looking at several other girls and they are confirming that Felicia Hardy A.K.A. Black Cat will in fact be in the movie. They have also been given a rough outline of the character’s story arc from their inside source
“She is the daughter of the new editor of The Daily Bugle, a man who is also referred to as ‘a viper’ (more on this in a second). She falls in love with Peter Parker, and uncovers his true identity. Her father then dies, and Hardy becomes a threat to Peter Parker (presumably as The Black Cat).”
The source also implied that the word viper has some relevance and suggested that Felicia’s father is a villain, as well as the editor of The Daily Bugle.
Almost none of this fits the comic book character of Hardy/Black Cat, who is supposed to be the daughter of a cat burglar, but her relationship with Parker is supposed to be close to the comics. They may just be taking some “creative liberties”
I’m still relegating this to the Rumor Files until we get any kind of confirmation from Raimi or the Studio, but it sounds interesting. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
They’re going to screw it up. I known they will. I don’t want to see McAdams do it just because she actually has a career…hate to see her screw it up with his. I also see no reason for them to completely change Black Cat’s back story. Her story is a bit involved…but if you’re not gonna do it right…
Wyatt, I’m afraid you’re probably right and I agree with your thoughts on McAdams, however… I do think she’d look damn good in the cat suit and I also think she would do a really good job of pulling off the snarky/flirty attitude of Black Cat. Also, something great about having her in the movie would be watching her act circles around Kirsten Dunst (which can’t be difficult).
