Abrams TREK: Behind The Scenes – Casting Spock & Wil Wheaton’s Cameo

startrek-logo-wide

Most people don’t know that Zachary Quinto’s interest in playing Spock was sparked by posts on a message board chatter, check out the DVD featurette below that tells the whole story and below that, if you didn’t catch Wil Wheaton’s cameo in Trek, we’ll show it to you and give you a bit of the story behind it.

King of The Geeks, Lord of the Fanboys and leader of the Axis of Anarchy, (otherwise known as Wil Wheaton) has done his share of voice work (including the voice of The Blue Beetle on Batman: The Brave and the Bold) and thanks to Hero and all around cool guy – Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman on Heroes) and his Twitter outreach to Wheaton, Wil got himself  a villainous voice role in Abrams Star Trek.

Check out the video below

Wheaton made the experience public on his blog, where he explained the first day of voice work

I thought it would be really hard to keep my squee under control, but when I stood there in the darkened ADR stage, three pages of dialog in front of me, sitting in the soft glow of a single dim light clipped to a music stand, I was able to put my inner awkward superfan into check long enough to be a professional actor. I mean, I was working for JJ freakin’ Abrams on Star frekin’ Trek, so maybe I could rise to the occasion, you know?

You should be nicer to Hwil Hwheaton and read his blog post for the whole story (you should be reading his blog any way)
