BSG fans, SyFy has delayed airing the 2 hour TV movie spin-off to Ron Moore’s “Battlestar Galactica”. Originally, “The Plan” was to be aired in November, but now SyFy is saying that it will not air in 2009 at all.
Wait, do not riot yet! “The Plan” will is still scheduled to be released on DVD on October 27th. So now it is more like an own-it-before-it-airs sort of situation, which is odd, but they have to keep the fans happy somehow, right?
“The Plan” is written by Jane Espenson (producer on BSG & webisodes, Buffy) and directed by Edward James Olmos. It is a companion to BSG, shot from the Cylon point of view.

Unfortunately, I cannot say I’m surprised by this move from SyFy. Particularly after the release of Caprica’s pilot episode to dvd before the show airs in January, this move was almost predictable.
I am glad the DVD release date isn’t changing. As a huge fan of the series, I will be at the store to grab my copy. I yearn for more BSG!
I am surprised by this backwards move by Syfy. It seems strange to release “The Plan” on DVD before it airs. I hope that there is a very good reason for them to change their programming schedule up like this.
Unfortunately, I cannot say I am surprised by this move from SyFy. Particularly after the release of Caprica’s pilot episode only on DVD, to be followed by the series airing in the next year.
I am at least glad the DVD release date did not change. As a huge fan, I will be at the store on release day to grab my copy!
So say we all!
